The Brand Called YOU: Workshop @ FSU, Dec 15, 2011newsid:4212/13/2011Panama City Beach (November 15, 2011) – On Thursday, December 15 the Beach Chamber's Navigator committee is hosting a Lunch & Learn workshop, "The Brand Called You," held at FSU PC's Holley Academic Center from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. This session will be given by Jack Kerigan of Kerigan Marketing; it is presented by Southwest Airlines and co-sponsored by FSU PC, Gulf Coast State College and the Small Business Development Center.
In this workshop, Kerigan will explain that every person is an individual "brand." Small businesses – even employees – need to find unique niches and deliver value, and those are the ones that are successful, get hired, get promoted, etc. "It's not enough to be the best at what you do; you've got to be the only one that does what you do," is a favorite quote of Kerigan's by Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead.
Kerigan served 12 years with RJR Nabisco's Brand Marketing Group, where he led the customer relationship marketing efforts of the SALEM brand, nationally. He then took the reins of Community Coffee where, as Director of Marketing, he delivered the company's first volume growth in over six years and expanded the brand across the gulf south. He launched Kerigan Marketing Associates in 2000, and has grown the firm into a team of six brand builders focused on the application of effective strategies across design and multi-media marketing channels. Kerigan has won numerous gold ADDYs for his work.
Cost for this workshop is $20 per person for Students and H.Y.P.E. (the Beach Chamber's young professionals group) members; $25 per person for Beach Chamber members; and $35 per person for non-members. Lunch & Learn workshops include a catered lunch and a special Southwest round-trip ticket raffle. Pre-Registration is required by calling the Beach Chamber at (850) 235-1159

Congratulations to our client North Florida Child Development on the groundbreaking for their new building—Gulf County, Florida’s first new school in 40 years!
We've had the pleasure of creating their initial marketing plan in 2007, followed by a rebranding with new logo, website and signage for their campuses across 8 counties. In 2010, we created brochures and an ADDY-Award wining video for their fundraising campaign for the new school. Congrats again on such a successful journey and thanks for letting us be a part of it!

Two Blessed Beachesnewsid:4010/26/2011
Occasionally, we show you beaches you can go to. This week, we are thankful for two clients and wanted to show you their new websites.
Laguna Beach Christian Retreat first came to Kerigan Marketing Associates five years ago for a logo design and a website. Recently, they returned for an email marketing program to promote a Christian concert on Panama City Beach. The eblasts delivered a great success and we’ve since completed a website makeover with our Content Management System they can easily update themselves.

Pastor Ted Richter approached us with his business plan to launch a new ministry called Living Water Church at the Beach. He needed a website, business cards, and a few more things, but the conversation didn’t stop there. Through several meetings, we were able to understand his unique mission and create a website that met his needs, including an easy-to-update events calendar where he can log in to post sermons, announcements and more.

The message? If you want something good to happen, you have to be an active participant. Kerigan took the advice to heart, and it still serves as his motto.
Now 47, Kerigan cut his teeth in the marketing business with RJR Tobacco and then Community Coffee, but in 2000 he decided to strike out on his own, launching Kerigan Marketing Associates in Baton Rouge, LA. His first projects: a local bank and Louisiana’s Audubon Golf Trail.
He has since been recognized as one of FSU’s "Notable Noles" and was named one of the "Top 40 Under 40" by the Baton Rouge Business Report and one of the "20 People to Watch" by New Orleans’ Gambit Weekly.
Wanting his children to grow up around family, Kerigan decided to move back to Florida’s Gulf Coast, opening an office in Port St. Joe. Now he commutes between the two offices to keep tabs on his clients.
"I remember standing in the lieutenant governor’s office in Louisiana and saying, ‘We’re going to be moving to Florida, but I think I can work it out.’ "
Indeed he did.
1. Biggest work headache? It’s the administrative part — the tax filings, billings, collections. But I never met a sales and marketing guy who likes that. We’d rather get out and communicate with a client.
2. Academic prowess? I had an academic scholarship to FSU, but I also had a lot of fun there. My grades were good but not stellar ... I wasn’t celebrated as a Rhodes Scholar. But I got serious in grad school and graduated with a 4.0.
3. Business hero: The CEO of Chick-fil-A, S. Truett Cathy. He created the boneless chicken breast sandwich, and obviously he was an innovator in his approach to advertising. With him, integrity comes first. Plus, I’ve always admired a guy who can run a business that is closed on Sunday, even if lots of his stores are in mall food courts.
4. Personal hero: My mom. She worked two full-time jobs to raise four boys. She was a nursing instructor at Gulf Coast Community College, and every day when she left that job, she went to work in the emergency room at Bay Medical Center.
5. Mode of convo: Texting with my family, especially my 15-year-old daughter, but mostly phone with my clients. I wouldn’t text a client.
6. Book or Kindle/iPad: I work on a computer all day. When I sit down to relax, I want to touch paper.
7. How to relax: I like to sail. I grew up racing Hobie Cat sailboats ... It was a good vehicle to get the girls onboard. Now we have a little catamaran we keep on the beach.
8. Biggest fan crush: The New Orleans Saints — but not because they won a Super Bowl last year. My last stop on the corporate trail was Community Coffee. I spent a lot of time in New Orleans, where they have passion for life and a not-so-great football team.2010 Festival of Trees selects Kerigan as logo winnernewsid:1905/10/2010Gulf coast marketing company's logo design is chosen to represent the 2010 Festival of Trees fundraiser for the Panama City Rescue Mission's women's home, Bethel Village The Panama City Rescue Mission announced the winner of its logo competition for the 2010 Festival of Trees: Christmas Through the Eyes of a Child. Kerigan Marketing Associates, Inc., with offices in Port St. Joe, Florida and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, www.kerigan.com, submitted the winning design, to be used with all 2010 Festival of Trees promotions."We knew we wanted to convey the magic of Christmas," Panama City Rescue Mission's Development Director Amanda Bawn stated, "and to children everything looks so much bigger than it really is."Kerigan Marketing's design will help them convey that message, which " inspired the logo elements of a small child looking up in wonder at a towering present. We think this scene really captures the magic felt by so many children at Christmas," said Catherine Noel of Kerigan Marketing.Festival of Trees has become a family Christmas tradition and enables local artists and designers to create unique Christmas items for charity. The items are judged in competition and made available for auction. Visitors can enjoy the sights and sounds of the season during special mini-events (by invitation only Nov 30 – Dec 2) or during the general admission (on December 3, from 5 pm to 9 pm)! All proceeds help Bethel Village, the Rescue Mission's home for recovering homeless women and families.Additionally, on Friday December 3, 2010, the Mission will also host a "Lunch with Santa." This fieldtrip, for our schools' homeless children, allows them to enjoy the beautiful trees, learn about the History of Christmas, meet Santa and receive gifts.Festival of Trees events are held in cities nationwide.
