Confused About SEO and SEM?
Published on September 19, 2017 by Jack Kerigan
It would be easy to assume that search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) are the same thing, but they are different services.
Most small businesses owners and marketers know a little something about SEO (search engine optimization) and the different tactics to help your website rank well in organic search engine results. Another important tactic for any business wishing to promote its website is SEM (search engine marketing), which includes things such as search engine optimization, paid listings and other search engine related services.
While the two phrases are similar and sometimes used interchangeably, SEO and SEM are very different services. KMA specializes in both.
Search Engine Marketing or SEM allows us to advertise to a city, a zip code, or globally while targeting your ads directly to the customers that you are looking for. As a Google Certified Partner, we keep pace with trends from the growth in animated banner ads and video among Millennials, to Google Quality Scores which aid your cost-per-click. The Google Display Network now spans over 2 million websites and apps reaching over 90% of people on the internet. Our digital strategies capture prospects’ attention earlier in the buying cycle and, combined with our intensive campaign management, consistently deliver conversion rates far exceeding national averages.
Search Engine Optimization or SEO focuses on increasing your website’s visibility in organic (non-paid) search engine results. SEO encompasses both the technical and creative elements required to improve rankings, drive traffic and increase awareness in search engines. There are many aspects to SEO, from the keywords on your page to the way other sites link to you on the web. Sometimes SEO is simply a matter of making sure your site is structured in a way that search engines understand, or even insuring that your digital profile is correct. SEO isn’t just about building search engine-friendly websites. It’s about making your site better for people too.
It’s easy to get confused about SEO vs SEM and we’re here to help. Whether you currently use Google AdWords or intend to start a new campaign, we’ll be happy to discuss your specific needs to see if there’s a fit.
