Getting on the “map” can make a difference to your company’s success.

Eighty-eight percent of consumers who search “near me” on Google visit or call a store within a day. Taking advantage of Google Maps allows you to be discoverable to potential customers and drive traffic to your business.

Appearing on Google means that people in your area, and those seeking information about your area, will see you as a business option. To ensure you are displayed properly on Google Maps, access and manage your “Google My Business” account so you can regulate how you appear to customers. To get set up on Google Maps, follow these 7 steps to get set up on Google Maps.

What is Google My Business?

A social media platform that is sometimes overlooked, Google My Business offers consumers a glimpse into your company. Sharing your business hours, customer reviews, website link and other important information (phone number and location) is an easy way for people to learn about your business.

When you search for a company or business, a large panel will appear on the right-hand side of the screen on a laptop or desktop computer. If you’re using a phone, it will be the at the top of the search. This is the “knowledge panel” and is driven by a Google My Business account. For example, if you were to Google “Kerigan Marketing Associates,” you would see this panel and an overview of our business.
